The World’s Best Sauvignon Blancs

The blistering heat is off to a strong start here in Miami, even for Florida veterans who stick it out all summer. Regardless of the weather, our favorite wine to drink right now is Sauvignon Blanc, and we’re not alone. The popular white grape is having a special moment. “No grape is hotter in today’s market,” say the experts at Wine Spectator. They add that Sauvignon Blanc is finally stepping out of Chardonnay’s shadow and gaining ground rapidly, from popularity to sales to imports.

Fun fact, Sauvignon Blanc is the ‘mother’ of Cabernet Sauvignon (the king of grapes). The genetic cross between Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc happened in the 17th century in Bordeaux, France. That’s how Cabernet Sauvignon gets its aromatic intensity and acidity, and why soils earmarked for Cabernet also work well with Sauvie B!

If you ask us, these are the world’s best Sauvignon Blancs to try:

  1. The extremely rare, pure, and electric FUTO Blanc 2021 (Napa Valley - go for their second label ‘SETA’ 2022 which is easier to find)

  2. The round and mouthwatering Accendo Cellars 2022 (Napa Valley)

  3. The crowd pleasing beginner’s Groth 2023 (Napa Valley)

  4. The crisp and ultralight G.B Burlotto Langhe Sauvignon ‘Dives’ 2023 (Piedmont, Italy)

  5. The legendary, silky, and flowery Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc 2022 (Bordeaux, France)
